There is nothing I like better than talking with clients about Bolt Burdon. I learn something every day and I like to have the opportunity to explain what is important to us. Here are just a few of the things that I am proud of:

  • Exceeding clients' expectations 100% of the time. I have always been very proud of the quality of the work we do and our focus on being practical as well as professional. We are now aiming to go even further and exceed our clients' expectations 100% of the time. In May 2004 we took all staff out for the day to work out what we need to do and how we can overcome the barriers. We are meeting every three months to monitor our progress. We are now sending clients email questionnaires every six months to see how we are doing. Click here if you want to see the changes we have made.
  • Our people - Bolt Burdon is not big but we work really hard at getting the right team of people we call them BBPs - Bolt Burdon Professionals. A BBP understands and shares our goals, is self motivating, is proud and excited by our profile, wants to work in a diverse and friendly environment, can make the best possible use of IT, is passionate about his work, loves innovation and change, likes to work in teams, recognises the importance of formal quality structures.
  • Our flexibility - because we only employ BBPs we don't need formal working hours or places. BB staff can work for as long as they like, at whatever time suits them and wherever they like - at home, in our office, at a clients premises, in the park. The only conditions are that the office is staffed to a minimum level during office hours.
  • Community life - Islington is our chosen home and I am proud of our contributions to the community. We have links with Islington Strategic Partnership, Islington Chamber of Commerce, Islington Enterprise Agency, Chance UK (a charity that provides mentoring for children), Kitted Out (helping get business sponsorship for local sports teams), Islington Law Centre, St Mary's Church advice centre, Islington NSPCC. We always support the Pensioners Christmas Lunch and the Mayor's Charity.
  • Having fun - this is very important. We like to throw good parties sometimes for staff, sometimes for those who refer work to us and sometimes for clients. We like to go spend time together out of the office - most frequently in the pub on a Friday night but also more adventurously we have had staff outing to Southend, a walk on the South Downs and various dinners.
  • Innovation - I believe that the only way to stay ahead is to try new things and to differentiate us from other law firms by doing things differently. Our experiments don't always work - we are still not sure if our Saturday opening will be continued, let me know if you have views. Our flexible working policy has been a great success much to the surprise of some or our competitors - staff love it and happy staff means happy clients. We have lots of ideas for the future and I welcome to hear suggestions from anyone reading this. We want to be the best law firm in the universe.
