Elevation!

I recently attained my Higher Rights of Audience qualification, becoming a "Solicitor Advocate." This entitles me to practice advocacy in the Higher Courts (High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court).

Generally - on the Civil side of litigation practice, solicitors routinely represent clients at short hearings before District Judges at the County Courts (and sometimes - but less often - at full County Court Trials before Circuit Judges).

However, for the more complex and detailed hearings and Trials, and certainly those conducted in the Higher Courts, solicitors employ the services of Counsel (Barristers) to present the cases before the Judge.

My new qualification allows me to do this myself. The advantage for our clients is that we can offer the one stop shop service - preparing the nuts and bolts of the case, running it at all stages of the proceedings and then fighting the case in court.
