Hi my name is Chris Phillips

I am a dual qualified lawyer (New York and England/Wales) specialising in copyright and related commercial transactions.

I advise and negotiate all types of media and entertainment contracts for recording artists, composers and media companies. Clients I have advised include major international Oscar and Grammy-winning performers and composers, Brit winners, actors, celebrities, models, DJs, producers as well as bands from all different genres including commercial pop, dubstep and classical.

I also have extensive experience of providing legal and strategic advice on a range of commercial matters, especially where intellectual property is involved, including digital licensing, branding and image rights, acquisitions, structuring, shareholders agreements, security documentation and joint ventures. My corporate clients include independent record labels, production companies, music publishers, management companies, agents and advertising agencies.

I am co-author of Music Business Agreements (3rd edition) the legal textbook for other professionals working in the music business.

Outside of work I like going to gigs with my friends, Bikram Yoga, spending time with my dogs and snowboarding.
