Jemma Hancock

After finishing my law degree in Liverpool at the John Moores University, I attended law school across the Mersey in Chester where I completed the Legal Practice Course.

I then went back to university but this time to lecture others in law and specialised in equity and trusts law. This was an eye opening experience as I taught students that were only a year or so younger than me and didn't necessarily want to listen! I soon learnt how to control the class and began to very much enjoy my time there.

However, I have always wanted to be a solicitor and so I soon accepted my first training contract in a small firm in Hertfordshire. At this firm I had the opportunity to practice in general family law, personal injury, general litigation and employment law.

I secured my training contract with Bolt Burdon in February 2007. I am based in the family department and I will be qualifying in to this area of law in 2008. I deal with the division of assets on the breakdown of relationships including marriages, civil partnerships and unmarried cohabiting couples as well as children matters. I am a member of Resolution.

I am a member of the Bolt Burdon netball team who are so far having a very successful season.

Outside of work I love reading, going to the theatre, the cinema, restaurants, as well as socialising with friends and family. I also love listening to music of all varieties as well as trying to play electric and acoustic guitar!
