Ryan Mowat

I completed my Law Degree and Legal Practice Course at De Montfort Universtity, Leicester in 1999. Somehow whilst I was at university I also managed to find time to spend two summers working on the Balearic Islands and even won a prize for the best dissertation in my final year.

Before settling down to a life in the legal fast lane, I went travelling around the world calling through Asia, Australia, the South Pacific and South America. I moved to London in 2000 and started as a litigator at one of the largest firms in East London/Essex. I joined Bolt Burdon in January 2005 and I am now Head of the Commercial Litigation Team.

I enjoy the demands of litigation, particularly with the new pressures of the Civil Procedure Rules and the opportunity to try other forms of dispute resolution such as mediation. I specialise mainly in contractual, negligence and general commercial disputes. However, I am also experienced in other areas such as insurance claims, insolvency, licensing and contested probate.

I am always willing to go the extra mile for my clients. Litigation is generally a stressful and time consuming experience so I try to ease the pressure for my clients at every opportunity. This means evaluating all of practical issues and judging each claim on its own individual facts.
