Sophie McGuinness
After training and working for a few years with a firm in the City I joined Bolt Burdon in February 2005 as Head of the Employment Department, becoming a partner a year later. Having lived in Islington for several years I was tempted to work for a firm with such a strong reputation in the local community and of course, the 10 minute walk to work had something to do with it! I am experienced in advising both businesses and their employees and always try to find a pragmatic solution as quickly and cost effectively as possible.
I have particular experience in advising senior executives and directors in the insurance, banking and financial industries and am an experienced negotiator and advocate. I speak at both external and internal seminars on employment law issues and offer in-house training for managers.
Out of work I enjoy yoga, walking and other forms of gentle exercise, preferably those you can do with a G&T in one hand. I have always been proud of my record of managing to avoid joining a gym but at the age of 35 I have recently had to succumb in the battle against the post baby bulge! Otherwise, I like to travel as much as possible and frequent the great restaurants and bars Upper Street has to offer as often as I can.
