Hi my name is Jonathan West
I am head of the family team at Bolt Burdon and have specialised in family law since I qualified as a solicitor way back in 1993.
Since then I have specialised in substantial divorce and financial cases, as well as disputes concerning children. I deal with all aspects of law involving families and couples.
For many years I have been a member of Resolution formerly the S.F.L.A (Solicitors Family Law Association).
In particular I enjoy conducting the advocacy in many of my cases and hold a Higher Court Solicitor-Advocate (Civil Proceedings) qualification.
Recently I have been involved in a number of key cases.
One such case involved a long marriage, assets in three jurisdictions and proceedings in two jurisdictions. There were a number of interesting elements to the case, including arguments relating to forum shopping, and many disagreements in respect of foreign asset values.
In another case the assets ran into many millions. After detailed financial disclosure we were able to settle the case on favourable terms and without the need for protracted and costly litigation.
One of the main priorities at Bolt Burdon is exceeding clients’ expectations. Obtaining positive feedback from clients is of great importance.
Outside of work I enjoy most sports and am a keen Arsenal fan. I also love to travel and socialise with friends and family. For my sins, I am a Governor of a school in North East London!
