Hello my name is Rod Smith
I am a partner and the head of the Wealth and Estate Planning team. I qualified in November 1998 and in 2001 accepted the role of the head of the team which consisted of a trainee solicitor and me. I became a partner in April 2003 and pleased to report that the team now extends to three solicitors.
I deal with all aspects of Wills, Trusts, Probate and tax planning work and particularly relish tackling the growing number of matters with an international flavour. I am an active member of both the Probate Section of the Law Society and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
My most successful case to date involved a multi-jurisdictional estate where I saved the beneficiaries over £1m in inheritance tax.
Bolt Burdon has varied and regular social and sporting life, including numerous charity challenges. I enjoy organising and taking part in these and so far have, inconceivably, notched three marathons under my, once again, bulging belt.
Away from the office I am kept out of mischief, for the most part, by my young family.
