Calls for closer relations between solicitors and mediators

At a time where referrals to mediation are at a low, Jane Robey, CEO of the National Family Mediation, has urged for there to be a greater collaboration between mediators and solicitors.

Jane makes various recommendations to achieve a closer mediator/solicitor relationship, and I found it of particular interest that she recommends that Solicitors should move towards giving more fixed fee advice.  Jane considers that this will enable mediation to work for more privately paying clients and not just those few who receive public funding. She believes that it will be “enormously beneficial” to clients if mediators could tell them that they can have advice from a solicitor about their options on a fixed fee basis.

Here at Bolt Burdon we offer fixed fees wherever possible, as we acknowledge how important it is for a client to have access to legal advice, to understand their options and to know exactly how much that are going to pay their solicitor.
