The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) (www.ico.gov.uk) has recently issued a new guide for businesses containing clearer and more practical advice about the Data Protection Act 1998. The new guide uses practical examples to try and help data users and controllers comply with the Act and, although it reproduces legal/technical guidance previously issued by the ICO, we think that businesses should find the new guide much more useful in terms of understanding, and complying with, UK data protection legislation.

Referral fees under scrutiny again

Once again there is discussion about whether or not solicitors should be allowed to 'buy' work by paying a referral fee. Last week the Council of the Law Society voted to lobby the government to ban referral fees in a reversal of previous policy.

£15,000 for the NSPCC

On Sunday 29 November 13 runners from Bolt Burdon and Bolt Burdon Kemp attempted the Florence Marathon. We had trained together since January. We have talked of running, injury, massage, pain and glory for nearly a year.
