I am a Partner and Solicitor at Bolt Burdon, dealing exclusively with, and leading, our Residential Real Estate team.
I qualified in 1999 and, since then, have dealt with the full spectrum of residential real estate work. I have dealt with everything imaginable from multi million pound portfolio purchases to beach huts and chalets. I also have a keen interest in providing quality advice on equity release mortgages and the later life lending market.
Prior to joining Bolt Burdon, I set up and managed award winning residential real estate teams. The key to setting up a good team is to ensure that it delivers exceptional client care and continually looks for improvements and advances.
I thrive on the fast pace and adrenaline of residential cases and enjoy reconnecting with old clients, and getting to know new ones. I am conscientious, thorough, dedicated and spend time ascertaining what matters most to those individuals or organisations for whom I act. Whilst technology can assist with the legal process, I firmly believe that clients should be at the heart of everything I do hence the reason why my focus is on communication, accessibility and quality advice. With over twenty years experience in the law, during which I have helped thousands of clients, I have developed and honed skills as a trouble shooter on difficult or complex cases.
What do my client’s say about me?
“What has very much impressed me was Melanie’s capacity to assess huge amounts of paperwork, demonstrate close attention to detail and not let the ball slip. the sale and purchase involved significant amounts of money and i was very struck when Melanie rebuffed an attempt by the purchaser’s solicitors to shift a particular small expenditure onto me. it made me realise very firmly that we were not going to get pushed around and that Melanie would be sure to achieve the best outcome overall for me. a great feeling.”
I firmly believe in the adage – a healthy body; a healthy mind, and try to stay as active as I can. I have been a sports enthusiast since childhood, and whilst the days of competitive participation are, sadly over, my support and interest have not waned. I am an avid follower of the national football, rugby and athletics teams, attending fixtures and meets wherever possible. I also support Essex Cricket and am a long suffering, but nonetheless devoted, West Ham fan.
I enjoy live music, concerts, comedy shows, theatre and films along with family time, walking the dog, kayaking wherever possible, fresh air and the wonderful scenery that this country has to offer. When I am not active, I relax by cooking, entertaining, reading and writing poetry and it is a consequence of enjoying cookery so much, that I have to stay as active as I can!
